PRIVATE Wax Carving Workshop

Workshop description

You will need a minimum of 3 people to book this private workshop. In this jewellery making workshop, you will learn the ancient technique of lost wax casting, which involves carving or sculpting a design from jeweller's wax. You'll create your unique design using carving tools, files, and sandpaper. The various tools allow you to make intricate designs as well as more organic textures. The possibilities with wax carving are endless! Sample rings will be available on the day for inspiration. You'll have the option to make a RING or a PENDANT. Please state which item your group would like to make when you book (the whole group does not have to make the same thing). After the class, they will be cast in sterling silver (or 9K gold for an additional cost) and finished for you in the studio. Finished pieces will be ready for pick up in 2-3 weeks or posted to you via courier (for a fee). What's included: The wax, tools, sandpaper, casting fee for one piece, and finishing of one piece. What's not included: Metal cost (approximately $9-$10/gram for sterling silver but please note prices will reflect current market rates). A typical ring weighs approximately 5-10 grams, and a typical pendant weighs approximately 3-7 grams. Additional pieces can be cast for a small casting fee + metal cost). Chains can be purchased for $30 for a fine sterling silver chain.
