FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
I've never made jewellery before. Is that ok?Of course! Most of our attendees have had zero experience but every single person has gone home with a beautiful and unique creation. Everyone is welcome!
-
Is there a minimum age for the workshops? We encourage younger people to come and learn silversmithing. However, anyone under the age of 16 will need to be accompanied by a booked adult and be under their supervision throughout the class. We have had young people as young as 13 participate in the ring making workshop, including the sawing and soldering.
-
How do I look after my silver jewellery?Sterling silver does tarnish (just from the air and any moisture), so it's best to take off your jewellery before you shower or do the washing up, and keep it away from creams and perfumes. When you're not wearing it, best to keep it in a (preferably airtight) box and give it a polish with a polishing cloth at the first signs of tarnish. Storing with a silica sachet (like the ones you often get in food packets) helps to slow the process too.
-
Do you run private workshops for a special occasion?Absolutely! We can host your own group for any occasion: hen dos, birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas parties. The possibilities are endless! Get in touch (info@osakanajewellery.com) to discuss your next event. Please note that all group workshops have a minimum of 3 people.

How long will it take for my item to be made?Because each item is made to order, it will take around 1 week to make and dispatch. However, if you are after something by a certain date, please do let me know (info@osakanajewellery.com) and I can see if it is possible to meet your preferred date.
-
Can I send it as a gift directly to the recipient?Of course! All our items are packaged in a box ready for gifting so you can send it directly to the recipient. If you would like a message to be included with the gift, just let me know at checkout and I will make sure to include it. Unless specified, if multiple items are ordered, they will come packaged together in one box. Please let me know if you would like them packaged separately.
-
How will I know if my order has been dispatched? You will receive an email once your item has been dispatched. If you don't receive the item within 7 days for NZ and 15 days for the rest of the world, please send me an email at info@osakanajewellery.com and I will follow it up for you. For larger orders, tracked and insured shipping is recommended.
-
What if my ring doesn't fit? Please email me at info@osakanajewellery.com if you have an issue with the sizing of your ring and I will endeavour to resize your ring to the correct size. I try to ensure that each ring is made to the requested size, however sizes can feel different depending on the thickness of the ring. Thicker bands tend to feel a little smaller than thinner bands, so please bear that in mind when choosing your size. The cost of shipping for resizing will be at the cost of the customer. If you need help with figuring out your ring size, have a look here.
-
Can I return an item if I have changed my mind?Returns and exchanges are accepted as we know that sometimes things change. Just send us an email (info@osakanajewellery.com)within 14 days of receiving the item and return the item to us unworn and in its original condition. We will issue a refund of the item minus the delivery cost, and return cost will be the responsibility of the customer. Bespoke and personalised pieces, and also earrings (due to hygiene/health reasons), cannot be accepted for return or exchange unless faulty.
-
What if an item arrives faulty? Please send us an email immediately (info@osakanajewellery.com), and if possible, with a photo of the fault. We will be happy to make a new piece for you or offer a full refund. Just return the faulty item to us in its original condition/packaging, and we will cover the return postage.
-
Do you do special commission pieces?Absolutely! Just send us a message (info@osakanajewellery.com) and we can discuss what it is you are after and work on creating something beautiful and special just for you!
-
Can you personalise any jewellery? We can add initials or dates to rings or flat surfaces (discs on rings or pendants) that have a size of at least 4 mm. Adding a wedding date to the inside of a wedding band is the most popular option. So in general, as long as there is enough space, we can add personalisation.
-
Can I make changes to my order? If your order has not been dispatched, we may be able to make changes (depending on the nature of the request). Just send me an email (info@osakanajewellery.com) and I will get back to you.
-
Can I cancel my order?Usually, it will not be possible to cancel your order and you will need to return the items for a refund. However, please send me an email (info@osakanajewellery.com) as I may be able to cancel your order if I have not started making the pieces.
-
How do I choose my ring size? The best way to find our your ring size is to measure your finger and use a conversion chart to find your size (you can find out more here). Cheap ring sizers are also available online. Just remember that rings can feel like slightly different sizes depending on the thickness of the band - thicker bands feel a little smaller than thinner bands.
-
How can I pay?We accept all major credit and debit cards and Afterpay.
-
What is your jewellery made of?All of our pieces are made from recycled 925 sterling silver, which means it contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Recycled silver is recycled from all sorts of places, such as old jewellery, electrical equipment, and medical equipment. This means you are supporting a sustainable practice, rather than mined silver, which has devastating effects on the planet. Currently chains and findings are not recycled but I am always on the look out for sustainable materials so hopefully this will be available soon!

Where is the jewellery made?Every piece is made in Sarina's home workshop in Auckland.
